Door County Insider Tip #91: Embrace your inner Jay-Z. Start collecting art today!

September 27, 2015 By Barbara Luhring Leave a Comment

dcbounce_ellisonbaypotteryWhy should you collect art? In the words of Jay-Z:

“I collect art, and I drink wine… things that I like that I had never been exposed to. But I never said, ‘I’m going to buy art to impress this crowd.’ That’s just ridiculous to me. I don’t live my life like that, because how could you be happy with yourself?”

John Dietrich and Diane McNeil operate a pottery studio in Door County’s Ellison Bay and we think you need to visit. Appropriately named “Ellison Bay Pottery Studios,” you simply won’t believe how prolific these two people are. Their work includes all forms of functional pottery, from cups, mugs and goblets to casserole dishes, plates, platters and bowls. Are you getting the picture? Plus, John throws vases and vessels, large and small that you have to see to believe. The glazes add a final gorgeous touch to these one-of-a-kind pieces.

DCBounce encourages you to embrace your inner Jay-Z.

And while you’re on the far northern end of the Door Peninsula, check out the other great galleries and studios at Ellison Bay Arts.

Door County Insider Tip #88: Great sleeps and eats in one convenient location

September 8, 2015 By Barbara Luhring Leave a Comment

DCBOUNCEPOSTCARDS_eagleharborinnOne of the best things about being on vacation is sleeping in. One of the other best things is eating incredible food. It just so happens that Door County’s Eagle Harbor Inn in Ephraim allows you to engage in these two incredible things at the same location. How cool is that?

And Eagle Harbor Inn has seasonal packages available. We suggest the Door County Bike Tour package September 18 – 20. Check out the rest of their packages here.

Want to get something special for someone special? Impress your pals with an Eagle Harbor Inn gift certificate. You can get one here.

Make a reservation today. Click here.

Door County Insider Tip #55: Tis the season to “self-gift”

December 22, 2014 By Barbara Luhring Leave a Comment

Insider Tips from Door County Locals

Insider Tips from Door County Locals

Diane McNeil and John Dietrich combine clay and heat to make fabulous things that will enhance your daily life. Their Ellison Bay Pottery Studios is located in Ellison Bay, which is tucked away in Northern Door County. We think ANYTHING in their studio is appropriate for self-gifting and DCBounce guarantees their mugs, bowls, teapots, casseroles and dinnerware will make the food you eat tastier and the drinks you drink more satisfying. But don’t take our word for it. Instead take a drive to Ellison Bay, Wisconsin and fall in love with functional stoneware!

Please pass this post on to a friend who eats and drinks…
